Experienced Glider
We are seeking an experienced, high-end gilder to join our gilding department. The position involves gilding custom crafted picture frames, and fine furniture along with treatment of gilded surfaces.
The ideal candidate should be detail oriented and have the ability to:
- demonstrate functional knowledge in traditional gilding techniques
- work with a variety of gold, silver, palladium and composition leaf
- demonstrate a highly trained hand in burnishing, application of tone, shellac and lacquer
- provide an antique leafed look, as well as a contemporary clean finish on furniture and picture frames
- ability to leaf on glass is a plus
At least 3 years of experience is preferred.
A keen eye for sheen & texture and high attention to detail is a must. Desire to learn new techniques. Ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment with a mind set to meet deadlines.
This is a full-time position with benefits, hours are flexible. Compensation is based on experience. Office location: 840 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago
